Impossible

Kestrelpath stepped out of the camp, checking for cats quickly, then ran. Without a clue on where he was going, he sped through the forest, feeling the wind on his face as he settled his thoughts carefully, going through everything that just happened.

Flowheart's pure white tail flicked from side to side as she watched the towering trees swaying from the breeze. A calm silence came over the clan, with only the slight rustle of prey in the undergrowth breaking the still. She breathed out a sigh, watching it freeze white in the air, and closed her eyes, alone.

Minnowstar sat in the den, shivering slightly from the chill of the winds. Her blue eyes darted up, toward the sprinkling of stars on Silverpelt, the first of their ancestors appearing. Her tail curled neatly over her paws as she looked down at the clan, vowing to StarClan she wouldn't let anything happen to HiddenClan. The new HiddenClan.

-------

Silentblaze padded through the forest, the ground soft and inviting with every pawstep. A flash of ginger fur, like a flame, startled her, and she backed away, her dark gray eyes suddenly alert and brimmed with anger. "Who's there?"
It-whatever it was-wasn't there anymore. At least, it had stopped moving, and seemed to be watching her. She glanced down and saw a ginger paw visible through the darkness, claws unsheathed and glinting menacingly in the moonlight. It stayed still, silent.
"Who's there?" she spat out again, spine fur standing on end, ready for a battle.
Then the it showed itself. It was a ginger tom, amber eyes clearly irritated. "What do you want?" His snarl wasn't unwavering, challenging even.
Silentblaze stared at him, noting that his claws were still out and ready. "What about you? Showing up in the middle of the night, in-in..." She cut herself off, eyes scanning the scenery. "Where are we anyway?"
The tom narrowed his eyes. "Unless you want to join, you don't have any business of knowing. In fact, if you don't want to join, leave. Before I shred you for being on our territory."
She blinked at him, going over his words. "Join what, exactly?"
He sighed suddenly, obviously losing patience. "HiddenClan. The clan's whom's territory you've trespassed? Sound familiar yet?"
She just stared at him. "I'll join."
He blinked at her. "What?"
"I'll join."
"Great," he muttered. "First cat joining and it has to be this one." He headed back in a direction, covering a few steps before looking back at her. "You coming?"
She nodded slightly, following him.

"Are you sure this is the right way?"
"Yes, yes, I'm sure." Lynxkit led the way to the camp, only stopping to let his hesitant brother catch up.
"What if there's no one there? You saw how big that fire was." Fadingkit blinked at him, watching as they passed through the unfamiliar territory.
"Then we look to StarClan." He continued on as Fadingkit looked around, confused but trusting.
Silverpelt stretched far out in front of them as they weaved through the trees, searching for some form of their home.
Lynxkit's determined green eyes soon widened, and he picked up speed, not looking back to check if his brother was following him. He skidded to a halt in front of the entrance just as Fadingkit caught up to him, panting. "I found it, Fadingkit," he breathed, marveling on how different the camp looked since before the fire.
Fadingkit blinked in wonder, taking a step inside as Lynxkit looked at all the differences, surprised it even held up. "Hello?" the pure black kit called out, cautiously. "Anyone-"
"Fadingkit? Lynxkit?" A familiar voice cut him off, eyes immediately widening in surprise. "You're alive?"
Lynxkit and his brother looked towards the source, where a white she-cat poked out from under the shade of a tree. "Flowheart!"
The she-cat grinned, nodding, then glanced back at the towering cave. "Minnowstar! Look who's here!"
As a black and white she-cat stepped out of the den, Lynxkit exchanged a glance with his brother. "Minnowstar?"
Flowstream looked back at them, eyes showing understanding. "Minnowstream. She became leader after...everyone else..." she trailed off.
Fadingkit nodded. "Then is this it? Just the four of us?"
Flowstream shook her head. "No, there's Kestrelpath too, but he went out-oh, there he is!"
The golden tom padded in, annoyed. "Here's Silentblaze. She's joining," He growled. His eyes found the two kits, and the traces of hatred melted away to form a blank face. "Lynxkit? Fadingkit? I thought you two..."
Flowstream nodded. "They escaped somehow. And ended up here." She smiled, and watched as Minnowstar made her way two where the clan was. "Fadingkit and Lynxkit!" The leader smiled, and looked over to Silentblaze. "Oh...who're you?"
Kestrelpath cut in, hatred seeping back into his voice. "Silentblaze. She's joining. As the medicine cat."
"Oh, alright. You're den's over there, and welcome to the clan. All of you."

  1. Silentblaze glanced at Minnow star. "What...am I supposed to do?"

  2. Minnowstar blinked at her. "Don't you know? You have a Clan name, so I figured you knew how to handle herbs and..." she trailed off, looking at the she-cat expectantly.

  3. Silentblaze looked surprised. "Well...I do have some experience with herbs and such. I can heal wounds and..."
Silentblaze stopped herself. She remembered something from a time ago from when she was a kit...A phrase. Medicine cat.
    "Can I be...a medicine cat?"

  4. Minnowstar looked at her, confused, as Kestrelpath snarled at her. "You told me you wanted to be medicine cat. Didn't you here me tell Minnowstar, mousebrain?"

  5. Silentblaze just stared.
She was annoyed...and embarrassed. More than she had ever been in her entire life.
    "Y-yeah..."
Silentblaze looked up, reacting to the word "mousebrain". "And what of it, furball?"

  6. Kestrelpath blinked, unfazed. The hatred hidden within his amber eyes started melting through, showing at the brims. His ear twitched subconsciously as he spat out a retort. "I'd just thought you, being a member of HiddenClan, would pay better attention instead of ignoring everything." He gave her a sharp glare. "It's as if you're deaf."

  7. Ignoring Kestrelpath's last comment, Silentblaze pranced off to the den Minnowstar had pointed out earlier.
Wow, Silentblaze thought. This is pretty clean...at least compared to where I was living before.

  8. Lynxkit pawed Fadingkit in the ribs. "Let's go find something to do." he meowed, bored. "I'll race you to the medicine den!" Lynxkit raced off, not waiting for an answer.

Flowheart walked around the camp, and poked her head inside the medicine den. "Hi, Silentblaze." she meowed to the gray she-cat.

  9. Fadingkit blinked at his brother, in thought until he saw him speed toward the medicine cat den. He grinned, running after him, skidding to the end just after Lynxkit.

  10. Silentblaze glanced at Flowheart. "Hi. The cats here...are really healthy, huh?"
Silentblaze wasn't really sure what to say, blurting the last sentence out, immediately feeling embarrassed.

  11. Flowheart smiled. "They sure are! Even after the... er... disaster that happened recently, our survivors still remained strong...." she meowed, and glanced at her paws. "So, uh, do you need any help with your herbs?" she asked.

Lynxkit purred. "What do you want to do now?" he asked Fadingkit hopefully.

  12. Fadingkit blinked at his brother, in thought. "We can play a game or explore, if you want." His shadow-black tail flicked to the side, questioning.
